Having a roof over your head is too a fundamental human right. In Cyprus there are a lot of people nowadays who cannot provide a shelter for themselves or live under miserable conditions, in dirt and germ traps, in houses that are crumbling and in places that do not have the essentials for decent living. If in an area has 1 or 2 houses in that condition then it will begin degrading and that entails more than just social consequences.

Fortunately in Cyprus we have the privilege of not meeting homeless people like they do in other countries but this should not reassure as and leave us indifferent to the problem as there are a lot of things to be done by each and every one of us regarding the upgrading of the quality of housing.
